The escort accompanying Provincial Constable Marc Hovingh will return to Manitoulin Island from Toronto at noon today and will travel along Highway 400 to 69.
Hovingh was shot and killed in the line of duty last week, while responding to a call regarding an “unwanted man” on a property in Gore Bay.
Police say 60-year-old Gary Brohman was also shot and killed in the incident.
Hovingh grew up in Barrie and attended Timothy Christian School. He will be honoured at tonight’s council meeting.

PC Hovingh grew up in Barrie and attended Timothy Christian School. The death of an officer is difficult for all who put their lives at risk to protect the public. Over the coming days we will remember him, and extend our deepest condolences to the Hovingh family. https://t.co/mgK68Ue6bM
