Gravenhurst is promoting local shopping via a new event that starts Thursday.
That’s when the Downtown Gravenhurst Shop Local Thursday Initiative will see businesses put out tents and tables to help draw more attention.
The Shop Local Thursdays will continue then until September 3rd.
“We’re being proactive getting people on the street while still maintaining social distancing,” explains Gravenhurst BIA Chair Tara McNaughton.
“We’re having an ongoing Thursday event throughout the summer,” says McNaughton. “And it’s just to get people in shopping local reminding them there are businesses here that are open and happy to serve.”
As well, contests will be ongoing. If you take a selfie with your purchase in the downtown area and submit it to the Gravenhurst BIA Facebook page you get a chance to win up to $100 in Gravenhurst dollars.
The shop Local initiative is happening through normal business hours.
At the end of the summer a grand prize draw will happen for a $1,500 credit towards a cottage rental through Vacation Time Real Estate.
