On Thursday, August 13, 2026, over 400 golfers participated in Elexicon Energy’s 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Deer Creek Golf and Country Club in Ajax. This event, one of the largest and most successful in the region, set a new record by raising $435,000 and since its inception in 2019, the tournament has raised over $1.5 million for local charities.
Elexicon provides financial support to registered charities and non-profits across its service territories. As one of the communities served by Elexicon Energy, the Gravenhurst Health Hub was selected as one of six recipients for this year’s tournament. https://golf.elexiconenergy.com/who-benefits.
“We believe our responsibility to the communities we serve goes beyond delivering reliable electricity and investing in the grid. It also means investing in the health, well-being and long-term strength of our communities, said Elexicon President and CEO, Amanda Klein. “We are proud to support the Gravenhurst Health Hub project, and this donation will help bring the community one step closer to opening its new space so residents have access to expanded healthcare services they deserve, locally.”
“We are thrilled to have been selected as a recipient of Elexicon’s 2026 Charity Golf Tournament! This generous donation will help advance the Gravenhurst Health Hub project and bring us closer to opening our new and expanded space in 2027. The expansion will accommodate the addition of new family physicians and primary care nurse practitioners, while bringing much-needed healthcare support services and diagnostic imaging closer to home for our community”, said Dr. Keith Cross, Co-Chair of the Gravenhurst Health Hub Steering Committee and the Cottage Country Family Health Team Board.
“Our Rotary Club has been working hard hosting fundraising events to complete this major project and bring primary care to the thousands of residents without access to care locally. This donation is a tremendous boost to our efforts and very much appreciated. Elexicon Energy embodies community giving and support and for this we thank them” said Marsha Barnes, Co-Chair of the Steering Committee and Rotary Board member.
About the Gravenhurst Health Hub
Gravenhurst and area is severely under-resourced in primary health care providers and allied health professionals. Over 6,000 residents—almost half of the population—do not have a local family physician or nurse practitioner, leaving them without essential care and having to travel long distances or utilize the hospital emergency department.
We are partnering with our community, businesses, and government to create a convenient healthcare home in South Muskoka for all residents. This health care hub will provide expanded access to a full continuum of health and social services in one multi-service, multi-function space. We are renovating over 12,000 square feet of space located on the second floor of the Cottage Country Family Health Team at 5 Pineridge Gate in Gravenhurst.
Phase 1 is substantially complete with basic infrastructure in place including, washrooms, floors, ceilings, electrical and plumbing making the space ready for our second phase of leasehold improvements.
The second Phase will see tenants like Dynacare expand space for more services, relocation of staff from the first floor to make room for more family physicians and completion of the Health Hub space for an expanded nurse practitioner clinic and a new visiting specialist program. Phase two renovations are planned to be released for tender this year with expected completion in early 2027.
The third and final phase is to establish a diagnostic imaging centre on the first floor that will provide xray, ultrasound and bone mineral density testing when completed.
The Cottage Country Family Health Team received funding in 2026 from the Province of Ontario to expand providers in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Wahta.
The Gravenhurst Health Hub Steering Committee (a partnership between the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst and Cottage Country Family Health Team) and its five subcommittees are comprised of over 60 community volunteers who have been spearheading this project, hosting fundraising events and raising awareness.
Cottage Country Family Health Team has encouraged residents without a provider to sign up to the provincial Health Care Connect program at www.ontario.ca/healthcareconnect
