OPP Ask Hunters Bay Radio To Not Refer To Incident As Arson: Police Are Only Calling It A Break And Enter
Huntsville OPP is investigating a break and enter at a cabin located at the base of a telecommunications tower north of Highway 60 on Miller Hill Rd in Lake of Bays, but they are not referring to the incident as an arson.
Police say the incident happened sometime between August 7th and 9th and they are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or suspects involved.
This is the same incident brought to light by Hunters Bay Radio yesterday.
OPP Media Constable Jeff Handsor tells Country 102 that he has asked Hunters Bay Radio to not refer to the incident as an arson, after their post yesterday claimed their secured facility in Dwight was the victim of one.
Yesterday, Hunters Bay reported that vandals broke into the secured facility and poured an accelerant on equipment and then lit it on fire.
Handsor’s release today didn’t include any mention of the fire, but, he indicated police are treating that aspect (the fire) as a mischief in their investigation.
Handsor indicated that the terminology 'arson' is in question from the police standpoint, as, he said, “an arson would be a fire you expect to get something out of.”
If you have any information about this incident you are asked to contact Huntsville OPP.
