Over 200 Muskoka moms/women alike gathered on May 12 donning their best bridesmaid attire to raise funds for women in Muskoka who need support.
Organized by Muskoka-based Primp & Pop Event Co. this year’s Mom Prom raised $15,000 for YWCA Muskoka – a local charity that champions positive change for girls, women and gender diverse people across Muskoka.
The funds raised will support the YWCA National Emergency Survivor Support (NESS) Fund which provides women, gender-diverse people and their families with financial support to leave unsafe homes or emergency shelters/precarious housing situations and begin their healing journeys.
According to YWCA Muskoka, the local demand for NESS grants is outpacing their funding. Over the past 5 months, YWCA has had 33 applicants, more than three times the number of women we expected to serve. Now, the NESS fund is almost depleted.
The Mom Prom funds will also help support YWCA Muskoka women’s programs and services for women at different ages and stages of life.
Thank you to the silent auction and raffle donors, volunteers, entertainment, attendees and a special thanks to the Mom Prom Sponsors: Little Black Bow, Dan Imrie of iMuskoka Realty, and Cottage Springs.
