Today members of the Muskoka Pride Committee joined Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith in raising the Progress Pride Flag at the Town of Bracebridge Municipal Office in recognition of the annual Muskoka Pride Week.
Muskoka Pride is a registered not-for-profit organization with a mission to bring people together by offering advocacy, resources and social activities for Muskoka’s diverse LGBTQ+ community.
The Muskoka Pride Committee has adapted some of their events to ensure that everyone remains able to participate, with events happening throughout Muskoka and a Rainbow Road Tour to close the festival.
The Muskoka Rainbow Road Tour for Central Muskoka will start in Gravenhurst on Sunday, July 25, at 12 pm.
Everyone is welcome to decorate their vehicle to help celebrate the ongoing efforts of Muskoka Pride to promote dignity and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people and the tireless dedication of advocates and allies who strive to help forge a more inclusive society.
“The annual Muskoka Pride Week events have been a highlight in Muskoka each summer, which is a clear testament to all of the hard work of the Muskoka Pride Committee, volunteers and to the support in our community as we celebrate diversity,” said Mayor Smith. “Everyone is encouraged to show their support and take part in the various activities offered as part of Muskoka Pride Week, including the Muskoka Rainbow Road Tour on July 25.”
The Muskoka Pride Committee also organizes several other social events during Muskoka Pride Week and throughout the year.
