An international body that oversees motor sports has given the green light to a proposed racing and testing track in Oro-Medonte.
Oro Station has received design approval of its proposed 4km track layout following a review by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The design review included an assessment of the track layout, safety installations, and proposed medical facilities by the FIA’s circuit safety commission based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The circuit will be part of the proposed Oro-Station complex next to the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport.
The complex will be a multi-use facility that includes an automotive business park with a course and testing facilities.
Its backers say it will be home to engineering, education, supply and manufacturing businesses all centered around the automobile.
The track should be up and running in 2023.
