Thousands of residents of central and north Simcoe County have now spent seven days without power.
While Hydro One has made a great deal of progress since last weekend’s ice storm, more than 100 thousand customers are off-line across the province.
The hardest hit areas include the Orillia area with more than 20,000 customers still waiting for restoration.
About 11,000 remain in the dark in the Bracebridge area, 5,000 around Penetanguishene, and 5,000 around Barrie.
The utility is hoping most will have their lights on by the end of the weekend.
Crews are using off-road vehicles to reach power lines in difficult terrain.
They have come across nearly two thousand broken poles.
Power workers from as far away as New Brunswick and Quebec have joined their Ontario counterparts.
