After a tragic start to the summer with a few drownings already reported in our area, the OPP is reiterating the importance of wearing a life jacket at all times.

Bracebridge OPP Sgt. Steven Mihills says Muskoka is a popular summer destination, with plenty of lakes to beat the heat.

However, he says even strong swimmers should consider wearing a PFD or life jacket, in order to prevent an emergency situation.

Mihills says there is no shame in wearing something that will save your life.
