A case of COVID-19 has been reported at the Muskoka Dance Academy in Huntsville.
According to a letter being shared on Facebook, a student attending classes at the Academy on Wednesday, September 16 has tested positive for the virus.
It says the student was screened before attending class and was not showing any symptoms.
The letter adds MDA is working with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to “ensure that any close contacts of the individual are identified”.
It says all safety protocols were followed, the student contracted the virus elsewhere, and as a result, “the risk of transmission in the studio has been deemed low”.
Country 102 reached out several times to Muskoka Dance Academy by email, phone and social media for a statement. We finally received an email response from Sue Kirwin-Campbell (MDA Artistic Director) at 11pm Monday.
It states: “Further to your messages, the Muskoka Dance Academy believed that a well thought out 100% accurate response was warranted. As a result of rushed judgement, erroneous information was published. As to the radio station’s announcement, we will respond further tomorrow.”
Kirwin-Campbell has since released a full statement. To read it, please click here.
