Brandy Lake in Muskoka Lakes Township has a blue-green algae bloom.
It’s in the north end of the lake, in the Falkenburg Road and Brackenrig Road vicinity.
The Health Unit says to avoid swimming or playing water sports in that area or allowing pets and livestock to drink the water at the location.
Also, be cautious about eating fish there and don’t use lake water for infant formula.
Symptoms from consuming toxins from the bloom can include headaches, fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting and can be serious if the water is swallowed in large quantities.
