A relative of Joan Lawrence, one of the four missing Huntsville area seniors whose stories have resurfaced this past year, has been found by CBC podcasts.
In the piece, Sherry Churchill, Lawrence's first cousin once removed, recounts how Joan, the so-called “Cat Lady' spent her pension at the end of her life on cat food in an 8 x10, $600 a month shed.
Joan and three other seniors who went missing in the late 90's, John Semple, John Crofts and Ralph Grant, are said by the OPP to be homicide victims. Police continue to investigate their cases and say new tips continue to come in.
CBC Podcasts reports that the relative was discovered November 4th when researcher Laura Beacom was studying Lawrence's family tree on Ancestry.com.
In the piece, Churchill says she felt angry and upset when she saw the shack Joan lived in.
She says, quote: “If anyone in the family had known about that, we'd have come in there with shotguns, probably.”
