A man convicted of brutally killing his father at a Gravenhurst cottage has been sentenced to spend five years behind bars.
According to CTV, Adam Kehl learned his fate in court yesterday, after being found guilty of manslaughter and blaming his actions on heavy marijuana use.
On August 11, 2018, the Kehl family was enjoying a day with friends at their cottage on Kahshe Lake, when 66-year-old John Keel was attacked, stabbed and decapitated by his own son.
The judge said Adam Kehl was evaluated by a court-ordered psychiatrist who agreed that the 31-year-old's psychotic behaviour was caused by cannabis-induced intoxication.
Kehl reportedly cried during sentencing and apologized to his mother for taking away the love of her life.
