A well-known Bracebridge family is getting a new plaque to commemorate their efforts at community building.
It’s in recognition of the contribution George Armstrong and his family made in the area of Atkins Lake and the former Armstrong Road neighbourhood.
The memorial will be installed on Atkins Lake Road at its intersection with Peace Valley Road.
Mayor Graydon Smith says it replaces a road that was formerly named in the family’s honour.
The Armstrong family created many lots and cleared land in the area where the new plaque will go up.
