Another new development is the County becoming a 90 per cent shareholder of the airport with its partner the City of Barrie, something Cornell says will galvanize the modernizing of services there, resulting in the lengthening of the runway.
With that, he says will also come additional businesses locating at the airport.
The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport is a vital economic driver for the County.
