The OPP’s Festive Ride Campaign has kicked off.
New laws phased in last year have provided OPP with enhanced tools to catch suspected impaired drivers.
Under the new law, officers with approved screening devices who lawfully pull over a driver, can now demand a breath sample without reasonable suspicion the driver has alcohol in their body.
It’s a zero-tolerance mandate that runs through the RIDE campaign and throughout the year.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique says whether a driver is impaired by alcohol, drugs or both, impaired is impaired
