What's happening with the Mayor's seat in Huntsville?

There are several options which will be addressed at the council meeting tonight

Currently, Deputy Mayor Karen Terziano is filling the seat after former Mayor Scott Aitchison's departure to become our local MP in Ottawa.

Councillor Tim Withey says the options include remain with Terziano in the seat, a by-election or an appointment of a new mayor to be decided by council members.

Withey favours a byelection, but will also press for a costing of the appointment process... (above audio)

Withey says there are about three years left in the current Mayorship's term.

He adds that a by-election, even if it costs more, is quote "the cost of democracy" and he says "may the best person win."
