A Bracebridge resident has announced his candidacy to run for the local Federal NDP Seat.

Tom Young, who announced his intentions Sunday at the NDP’s Annual General Meeting, says Muskoka is in his blood.

“I believe it's time for change, I really do,” says Young. “You need to go back to the basics and start listening to the constituents of this riding and then going to Ottawa with the wants of the constituents of this riding. Whether its something I agree with or don’t, you still got to go with what they want you to go with because they’re the ones putting you in.”

Asked what the NDP could bring to the Federal table in Ottawa that other parties haven’t in the past, Young says it comes down to giving everybody a voice... (above audio)

So far, Young is running for the spot unopposed.

The local Federal NDP nomination meetings are being held in May.
